The Real Coffee Experience

We are going to introduce you to the world of coffee today, and hopefully you will walk away with a completely new and different opinion of your coffee experience.

After many hours in our R&D department, commonly known as Research & Development, we however call it the Rats & Damn-It Department for “Rats Damn-It that didn’t work”, we have realized that most coffee manufacturers only care about one thing, Selling Coffee.

The Caffene Fiend on the other hand, wants to sell you coffee yes, but also, we want to introduce you to a completely new Coffee Experience.

We want to first educate you on where your coffee comes from and the people that grew and picked the first beans that you will be enjoying.

Secondly, we want to educate you on the cultural differences of each of our coffee origins. (Notice I called them Origins, not flavors).

We don’t flavor any of our coffees they come naturally flavored from the environment in which they were grown. With that, let me start with “It’s an origin not a flavor”.

It’s an Origin, not a flavor
What do I mean? First, we don’t sell flavored coffees like the Super Chain, we sell Origins of Coffee, and every origin has its own unique taste and flavor.

The Super Chain, supplies flavored coffee to cover up the fact that they have burned their beans to charcoal, and now they replace the missing flavor, by artificially flavoring their coffees.

Our coffees are naturally full of flavor simply from the climate and ground that they are grown in. Nothing is added to the coffee during its processing, roasting, or packaging, just 100% pure coffee.

The second important thing to know about coffee is how it is roasted. Most commercial roasters use a Gas Fired Roaster. With these gas-fired roasters, the fumes will taint the coffee beans as they are being roasted, which changes the taste and flavors dramatically.

With our proprietary roasting process we roast our coffees by using a super-heated light source, which doesn’t add any fumes or tainted flavors to your coffee. We also believe that:

Roasting coffee is an art form, Not a Job

What do I mean that it’s an art form, simply this; our roaster must see, hear and smell the coffee to know when it is Roasted to the Perfection of the Origin®, he doesn’t just push a button on the machine or computer, and ding its ready.

He must be an artist; to know the exact time to bring the freshly roasted coffee out of the roaster at its very best. Our Roasted to the Perfection of the Origin® process brings out the very best in Every Origin of coffee, and no two coffees are identical.

Once you try our coffees from around the world, you will taste the difference an artist makes verses simply being a coffee roaster.

We offer several sizes of zip-seal bagged coffee and also we have individual Coffee pot packs, which are pre-measured packs of coffee for your 10-12 cup coffeemakers or your 4-5 cup coffeemakers. Coming next time, the importance of purchasing Fair Trade Coffee, verses coffee that isn’t Fair Trade Certified™.

Making That Perfect Cup of Coffee

Have you ever wondered how to make a perfect pot of coffee, one that everyone will enjoy?  The Caffene Fiend is here to help you make that perfect morning pot of coffee, or a GREAT after dinner coffee, one that is sure to please everyone.

To start with, we have all read the directions on the back of most commercially made cans of coffee that tell us to use 1-tablespoon of coffee per cup of coffee that our coffeemakers brew, typically that would mean using 10-12 tablespoons of coffee per standard pot.

Wow, that is a lot of coffee, and most people we know couldn’t stand to drink the stuff if we made it that way.  Have you also noticed that everyone in the same office can’t make the coffee the same way either, this is because everyone has developed their own style to making coffee to compensate for the ridiculous instructions on the cans of coffee.

So, most people have reduced that to 3-4 tablespoons/coffee scoops per pot and that is much more reasonable and makes a fairly decent pot of coffee for your standard 10-12 cup coffeemaker.
However, The Caffene Fiend has developed a way for everyone to make your home or office coffee exactly the same way every time, since our R & D department developed what we call our Standard and Small Coffee Pot Packs.

These pre-measured packages of coffee have been pre-measured to give you the perfect pot of coffee every time, no matter who is making the coffee.  If you don’t want the added expense of having individually packaged coffee by the pot, and want to purchase our coffee by the larger bags, then let us suggest that you begin measuring your coffee in our measurements for the perfect pot.

.60 ounces (our Small 4-5cup Coffeemaker pot packs) equals to approximately 2 nicely rounded tablespoons of coffee, but not heaping though.  Our 1.60 ounce pot packs, equals to approximately 4-1/2 nicely rounded tablespoons of coffee, but again, not heaping though.

Another key to the perfect pot of coffee is the type of grind that you are using.  In our standard and small pot packs we use a Standard Drip Grind, suitable for most coffeemakers that brew a 10-12 or 4-5 cups of coffee in approximately 10 minutes.

In the faster brewing coffeemakers such as Bunn, and others that brew a 10-12 cup pot of coffee in approximately 3 minutes, we recommend that you use an espresso grind or finer grind coffee since these types of machines brew so quickly.

Also, our small pot packs have the exact same amount of coffee in them that you are brewing in those little cups or pods, for your one-cup coffeemakers, and are perfect for using in your own filter in those single cup coffeemakers.

The third key to the perfect pot of coffee is FRESH Roasted and Fresh ground coffee.  The Caffene Fiend only roasts your coffee when you place your order, and it requires 1-2 day breathing time before we will grind your order or ship it out the door to you.

One taste and you will see what proper freshness in coffee means in making that perfect pot of coffee, and you will never be satisfied again to drink that off the shelf stuff that has been 6-9 months past the roasting date before you ever get it home to begin brewing.

We educate our customers to begin grinding their own coffee just prior to use, because once coffee is ground, it becomes old and stale within about one month after grinding, no matter how you try to preserve it.

Placing ground coffee in the freezer only makes it cold and doesn’t really help preserve freshness.  The only way to maintain fresh coffee is to grind it just prior to brewing and keep in our Zip-closure foil bags.

Light, air, and moisture are the biggest enemies to your coffee and only Zip-closure foil bags, and grinding prior to use can help maintain freshness.  This is why you will see that our Pot Packs have a best if used by date approximately 2 months from the roasting date, and the our whole bean bags of coffee will have a best if used by date approximately 5 months past the roasting date.

Whole beans retain freshness much better and longer than ground coffee ever will.

The fourth and final key to the perfect pot of coffee is only use Natural Spring Water.  In our coffee shop, we only brew our coffee with Ozarka Natural Spring Water, because it has none of the chemicals added that regular tap water has.

When you combine regular tap water with your fresh roasted and fresh ground coffee, you are actually removing most to the flavor and tastes from your coffee, not to mention you are adding higher concentration of chemicals into your body in the brewing process.

So remember, .60 ounces (2 rounded tablespoons coffee or our Small Pot Packs) small 4-5cup coffeemaker, and 1.60 ounces (approx. 4-1/2 tablespoons coffee or our Standard Pot Packs) standard 10-14cup coffeemaker, use the proper grind for your coffeemaker, only use fresh roasted and fresh ground coffee every time, and only use Natural Spring Water for the best coffee every time.
